The USNAAA San Diego Chapter is pleased to be a founding supporter of the San Diego Veterans Tennis Classic. Multiple USNA Alumni, including former members of the Navy men’s and women’s tennis team, are involved with this prestigious event co-hosted by the US Naval Academy and the University of San Diego. USNAAA is also pleased to see the community outreach involved with this event including the NROTC San Diego Consortium, San Diego Wounded Warriors Tennis Program as well as young people from disadvantaged backgrounds for a field trip for this event.
USNAAA SD Chapter Vision: The USNAAA SD Chapter dedicates itself to the perpetuation of the unique charter and role of the United States Naval Academy (USNA) as an institution of national prominence in the United States of America by promotion of the role of USNA which develops Midshipmen morally, mentally, and physically and imbues them with the highest ideals of duty, honor, and loyalty in order to graduate leaders who are dedicated to a career of Naval Service and have potential for future development in mind and character to assume the highest responsibilities of command, citizenship, and government. USNAAA SD Chapter Mission: To support the mission of the United States Naval Academy Alumni Association and Foundation (USNAAAF) as follows: (1) to serve and support the United States, the Naval Service, and USNA by furthering the highest standards at USNA; (2) by seeking out, informing, encouraging, and assisting outstanding, qualified young men and women to pursue careers as officers in the Navy and Marine Corps through USNA; and (3) by initiating and sponsoring activities that will perpetuate the history, traditions, memories, and growth of USNA and bind alumni together in support of the highest ideals of command, citizenship, and government. Also, to focus the resources, talents, and experience of area alumni to the benefit of USNA and the Naval Service, through service and support of the Chapter’s objectives contained in the By Laws of the organization, and to serve the community and social needs of Chapter members through activities and programs that bond members of all classes and all generations in a common tradition of service, citizenship, fellowship and mutual support.
USNAAA SD Chapter Activities: Many events are offered to alumni in Classes ranging from 1941 to 2020 to gather & fellowship. The Chapter plans and offers monthly luncheons, happy hours, and networking breakfasts (NAVNET) along with annual activities including San Diego Padres Games, Casino Nights, Del Mar Races, Luaus, and Army-Navy Football Game watch parties as well as supporting local nonprofits including the San Diego Armed Services YMCA (SDASYMCA) and Veterans Village of San Diego (VVSD). Support to the Blue and Gold Officer (BGO) Program is a priority which assists USNA Candidates with their application process – an annual Plebe Welcome Aboard Dinner is sponsored to recognize graduating high school seniors who receive an appointment or preparatory school opportunity. USNAAA SD Chapter Nonprofit Status: The USNAAA SD Chapter is a nonprofit California corporation with 501(c)(3) status. The San Diego Chapter's status is separate from the USNAAAF located in Annapolis, Maryland. As an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) charity, all contributions made to the USNAAA SD Chapter are fully tax-deductible.
